Brazilian Paiva lands Al Ain feature
for Daoud and Liwa Stables

Seven races at Al Ain on Saturday, December 10, were highlighted by a 1400m handicap, won impressively by Mascotte Al Maury, the 4yo filly always looking in control after committed for home early in the straight by Sandro Paiva, riding for Liwa Stables and trainer Abdelaziz Daoud.

Paiva said: “She won very well last time over this Al Ain 1400m but this was a tougher race and she has coped being upped in class in style. She is a nice filly.”


Barjah ridden by Jesus Rosales

The fixture kicked off with a handicap over 1800m Wathba Stallions Cup for Private Owners Only and Khalifa Al Neyadi was able to celebrate further success, Barjah, whom he both owns and trains, storming clear over the final 150m under Jesus Rosales.

The Al Asayl silks, sported by Richard Mullen, were then carried to victory for the first time since the 2009/10 campaign (for the record this first season they been used since) who landed a maiden over 1800m for Salem Al Ketbi aboard Ejyabi, adding a first to the third and second he had previously recorded.


Yurman ridden by Tadhg O'Shea

If Tadhg O’Shea successful defends his jockeys’ championship, the chances are he will not partner an easier winner all season than Yurman who turned the only Thoroughbred contest on the card, a 1600m handicap, into a racecourse work out for Bhupat Seemar and Mohammed Khaleel Ahmed.


Fadwaan ridden Antonio Fresu

A 1600m maiden for 3yos foaled in the UAE was contested by a capacity field of 15 but it was apparent early in the long Al Ain home straight that only debutant Fadwaan really mattered, the colt powering clear under Antonio Fresu in the colours of Al Rahmani Racing for Ahmed Al Mehairbi.

A 1000m maiden looked wide open at halfway when most of the 13 runners appeared in contention but the final 175m belonged solely to RB Sarab, scoring in the silks of Mansoor Musabah Abdullah Hamad Al Sinaidi, completing a double for jockey Antonio Fresu but a first ever winner for trainer Khalifa Al Neyadi.


AS Qoot ridden by Saif Al Balushi

WATCH THE RACE

The finale, a 1000m handicap, was made to look a straightforward assignment by Saif Al Balush who seemingly knew had ‘all bases covered’ entering the final 175m board AS Qoot for Sheikh Hamed bin Khadim bin Butti and completing a double for trainer Khalifa Al Neyadi.
